WELL ACKSHULLY at the time I wrote that, the Winter Solstice was still coming up, and that’s the only ritual I personally observe in December. However, that does not excuse my failure to provide the particular, specific holiday wishes you were longing for, and which you were so cruelly denied by my foolish japery. I most heartily regret the distress and confusion caused by my thoughtlessness. I only pray that Santa, in his wisdom and grace, will forgive me someday.

It’s called Christmas. The only holiday at this time of year in this part of the world is Christmas.
Gunther is trying so hard to help the boy, within the limits of his promises and butlerian duty.
